About Matt
Matt is a father of three, an avid fishermen and Minnesota Vikings fan, and owner and founder of Matt’s Automotive Service Center. A Herman, MN native, Matt started this company as a two-bay shop back in 2009. He has expanded the company into 10 locations with beautiful, state of the art facilities serving the Fargo-Moorhead & Greater Twin Cities areas. Matt enjoys being a pillar in the community, giving back in any way he can, and providing knowledge and education in the biggest ways possible. As a result of being a continuous educator and an amazing pillar in the community, Matt won Entrepreneur of the Year in 2015 through the Fargo-Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce and was named the top shop operator in the country by Ratchet & Wrench magazine in 2021. Matt’s Automotive has been recognized as a top 1% shop in the country. When Matt’s not working, he enjoys being outdoors, riding side by side, boating, playing buck hunter, and spending time with his kids.

Vern
DISTRICT MANAGER

Vern is an enthusiastic coach for our team that loves helping people and teaching what he has learned to as many people as possible. He enjoys getting disappointed by the Vikings every Sunday during football season and hopes that one day, he might see his team in the Super Bowl. He is an avid gamer that loves a good adventure and hates online multiplayer games. He enjoys spending time with his fiancée Brita, his dog Blue, and family and friends in his free time. You can also catch him binge watching almost any TV show imaginable and catching every Marvel movie or show as it is released (he might have a little bit of FOMO). Vern has aspirations of becoming an automotive business coach for the industry so that he can start to fulfill his dream of helping to change the perception of the automotive industry.

Chris, a New England, ND native, is a father of 2 boys. Not only is he the Controller for Matt’s Automotive; he also owns a Local Wedding DJ and Entertainment business. During his free time he loves spending time with his wife Britny, playing Fortnite with his boys, or doing some crazy house renovation that he probably should just hire someone to complete.

Tasha is an HR Generalist who wishes she could read minds to better understand and support her colleagues. She loves unwinding by going to concerts, music festivals, shooting darts, playing games, and spending time with family and friends. Tasha shares her home with three dogs: Rocket, an Old English Bulldog; Luna, a Cane Corso; and Daisy, a Pitbull. Her family includes her husband Jesse, son Jaykob, and daughter Katie.

Jenni is a mother of 2 boys from West Fargo, ND. She is passionate about connecting with people, which is why she really loves her job as the Location Manager at our Fargo location. Jenni has been in the customer service industry for over 20 years. After living in California for a few years, she really enjoys getting back and visiting family and friends there. When Jenni isn’t working, she enjoys hosting dinner parties, happy hour with friends, entertaining her husky and spending time with her two sons.

Hi, my name is Chris and I have been the Location Manager at Matt’s Automotive Service Center in Moorhead for a little over a year now. Prior to this position, I worked as a Machinist for a couple of different local companies over the past 5 years while attaining my degree in Finance. In my free time, I spend most of it going out with my daughter getting boba, roller skating, walking around the mall, or at the lake all summer in the evenings and weekends swimming. I enjoy watching football on Sundays and music is my go-to for just unwinding at the end of the day.

Haley is originally from East Grand Forks, MN and moved to Fargo in 2011. Originally working in the restaurant industry, she wanted a change and joined the team at Matt’s Automotive. She enjoys helping people and educating and empowering her customers. Haley is an animal lover who has several cats and a handful of reptiles. In her free time, you can find her crocheting, reading a good book, and spending time with her friends and family.

Hey, my name is Justin, and I have been in the RV/Camper industry for a decade, so while I am new to the automotive industry, I am excited to learn everything I can as fast as I can. When I am not working, I like to play games, both video and tabletop. I also enjoy hunting, hiking, and disc golf. I am Fargo, ND born and raised, and I have lived here my whole life. I have daughter and a 100 lb. puppy named Moose. They both like to keep me busy spoiling them. I look forward to meeting you all at our Fargo Collision Center!

Hi, my name is Eli and I am the Location Manager at Matt’s Automotive Service Center in North Branch. I have been a “Car Guy” for over 30 years. In that time, I have been involved in the parts department, sales department, service department and front office. I enjoy meeting new people and helping to find solutions that lead to a positive vehicle ownership experience. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my family unless it’s football season, then you will find me on the couch cheering on the Vikings!

Dustin is the father of 4 amazing kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. If there is one thing you need to know about Dustin is that he loves sports, coaching, playing, and officiating. Dustin was born and raised in Willmar, moved around a bit, but settled back in the Willmar area. Originally working in the restaurant and hospitality business, Dustin decided to move to the automotive business and has found a knack for it. In his spare time, Dustin is the manager of the Willmar Rails amateur baseball team, he umpires high school and college baseball, and he referees high school and college football.

My love for cars has been a lifelong passion, fueling my decision to join the automotive industry. What I cherish most about my role is the opportunity to connect with people and assist them in their automotive needs. A piece of advice that has guided me is to take each day as it comes while setting achievable goals for the future. This approach has helped me stay focused and motivated. As an old-car enthusiast, I’m drawn to the classic designs and engineering of yesteryears. While I don’t have a specific favorite, I appreciate the craftsmanship and history behind each vintage vehicle. When I’m not immersed in the automotive world, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, golfing, and cheering on my favorite sports teams. A casual game of catch with my son is always a highlight, and I cherish these simple moments.

I was born and raised in central Florida and my whole life I dreamed of living somewhere it would snow. So, I moved to Fargo! I have extensive retail experience, mostly dealing in men’s fashion and I had a lot of fun with it! I joined Matt’s Automotive because I wanted to be a part of a team and an amazing company culture.

Wes has had a shorter career in the Automotive industry but has quickly rose to be one of the most productive team members in the Matt’s Automotive family. His eye for speed, accuracy and efficiency is second to none. He has a thirst for knowledge and taking care of people and their cars. When he’s not working you might find him enjoying time with his friends, fishing in a lake or river, pontooning, ice fishing or hunting. You could call him an outdoors guy.

Austin was originally hired as an automotive technician and earned the title of foreman through hard work, dedication and growth within the Matt’s Automotive organization. He originally is from Edgely, ND and loves spending time with his family. He is an avid NY Giants fan and enjoys watching football in his free time. In addition to football, he enjoys spending time with his family which consists of his 5-year-old daughter and wife. He loves motorcycles, fishing, hunting boating and watching movies. He is also into comic books.

Zach is a laid back, chill guy, and a father to one son. Outside of work you can find him at the dirt track races, traveling for his son’s soccer tournaments or antiquing with his girlfriend. Zach has been a technician at Matt’s Auto since 2013. A fun fact about Zach is that he likes to collect sports memorabilia. Go Falcons!

I grew up in Grand Forks ND. I’ve been in the automotive industry for 25+ years with positions of Service writer, Service manager, Parts, ASE certified Automotive Technician. I have two grown children and two grandchildren, Luna and Brooks (I love being a grandpa!) Hobby’s include Lots of Fishing and boating, Riding Side by side, Riding motorcycles, Big NFL Fan and MLB fan and play a lot of Football and Baseball fantasy sports.

Chris is a natural problem solver whose talent for resolving and repairing issues inspired his career in the automotive industry. Beyond his technical skills, he finds fulfillment in helping others, mentoring, and building strong connections with customers. A family man at heart, Chris cherishes time with his grandchildren, whether celebrating birthdays, fishing, or enjoying the outdoors. His love for cars is exemplified by his admiration for the 1984 Lamborghini Countach. At home, his dog Mya Moo adds a playful touch to his life. Chris takes pride in raising his children to be the best adults they can be and lives by the advice, “Never lose sight of who you are and what you believe in.” Known for his humility, he often says, “People call me a mechanic; my kids just call me Dad.”

Nathan Pauly’s automotive journey began at 18, driven by a passion for solving problems and a commitment to excellence. A 12-year Army veteran and L1 Master Technician with ASE certifications, he values honesty, integrity, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Nathan cherishes time with his wife, eight children, and three granddaughters, enjoying family traditions like outdoor gatherings and holiday celebrations. A West Berlin native and Iraq War veteran, he’s passionate about lifelong learning, history, and inspiring others to succeed through faith and hard work.

Married with 4 kids and 15 Grand kids. I live with my wife, my daughter, her husband and 5 grand kids. When I come home from work, they all greet me with hugs and love that truly makes my day. I have been on a motorcycle since I was 9 years old. I have traveled around the world three times. I have ridden around the United States 3 times. I was labeled as the new easy rider by Harley Davidson members magazine. I served in the United States Navy for 5 years and served on ship in the Mediterranean Sea for 4 years. I have worked on computers since 1977. I was a 5-star chef for 17 years and from there I started working on cars so I could spend more time with my kids. I worked with a lot of great people and they have taught me patience and don’t give up.

Jessica is a dedicated technician who found her passion for the automotive industry after teaching herself to fix her own car when it broke down. She enjoys the challenge of problem-solving and thrives on learning from failure rather than letting it defeat her. Her favorite road trip destination is western Montana, especially driving through Glacier Park. In her free time, Jessica loves reading, playing video games, and creating new things from tiny parts. She shares her home with her spouse, three cats (Jack, Millie, and Gus), and a dog named Winnie.
Sophie
TECHNICIAN
Sophie is a 2022 graduate of Fargo South High School and became interested in becoming a mechanic after taking a couple years of Automotive classes in school. After working in Food Service for four years she decided to make the jump to the automotive industry in November of 2022. First starting at our North Moorhead location as a Tire & Lube Technician, she later transferred to our 13th Ave location as a General Service Technician and has been happily working there since. She is also ASC Certified! During her free time Sophie enjoys playing games online with her friends and creating digital art, as well as loving on her pet Rottweiler. Sophie is glad to have made the jump to Matt’s Automotive Service Center, as well as the practical experience she gains by working here.

Brandon grew up wrenching with his father, developing a deep passion for mechanics and a knack for fixing anything that came his way. Known for his dedication to customer satisfaction, he takes pride in helping clients leave the shop with safe, reliable vehicles at a reasonable cost. His dream car is a 1971 Chevelle SS with a 454 big block—a classic he’s admired since childhood. Outside work, Brandon loves hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle, a lifelong escape and “happy place.” He enjoys time in the countryside with his fiancée, their two blue heelers, Maisy and Belle, and his seven-year-old daughter. Recently engaged with a baby on the way, Brandon cherishes family gatherings, especially around the holidays when relatives from across the states come together.

I’m Cole, I’ve been working in the automotive field for roughly 4 years. I chose this career path because I always loved working with my hands, even at home I like to work on model kits or other hands-on activities. I started working on lawnmowers and other small engines when I was still in high school, leading me to where I am today. I graduated from Hennepin Technical College with a 2-year Diploma in Automotive and learned much through the years in this industry. Every day I learn new things and plan on continuously growing my skill set as an Automotive Technician.

Hi, I’m Cecilia, aka Ceci. I recently just graduated from Dakota County Technical College with an AAS degree. I have had three years of hands on experience. I took vehicle services and small engines in high-school. I have always been interested in blue collar work, specifically the automotive industry. I grew up around diesel mechanics mostly, but I ended up going the route of just regular automotive. I’m very eager to learn new things and I thrive to give my very best. Outside of work, you can find me tinkering with my own projects, attending car shows or simply just reading/going to the gym. I believe I have a bright future in the automotive world and I hope to inspire others, specifically females to join my passion for mechanics.

My name is Andrew Toupal, and I have been in the automotive industry for almost six years. I have been working for Matt for a little over a year and have loved every second of my career. My hobbies include woodworking, automotive performance, fishing, backpacking, and anything outdoors. I have one Husky and three cats, and I live with my wife of two years.

Brady just became the father to a baby boy. He enjoys going boating with his family and friends all summer long. In the wintertime, Brady loves to go snowmobiling. In his free time, he likes rebuilding cars and helping his friends build their drift, drag, and autocross cars. Brady recently has found enjoyment in tuning vehicles. The transition to Matt’s Automotive Service Center has been an amazing experience and he can’t wait to grow in his employment.

Mike has been with Matt’s Automotive for 2 years and really enjoys helping everyone out. He has been in the automotive collision industry for the past 8 years and loves learning more about how to perfect his craft. When he’s not at work he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Haley. He also enjoys animals and the outdoors, watching anime, and playing video games.

Robert grew up in Devils Lake and moved to Fargo after college where he attended NDSCS. Robert enjoys spending his time playing disc golf and playing video games. Enjoys watching football on the weekends, and he is an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

I’m Ryker – I started at Matt’s Automotive following in the footsteps of my dad, Matt. I enjoy learning new things and that’s why I love being a mechanic. I spend most of my time with significant others or reading/gaming. I am still in High school at Kindred but I do have plans to go to a tech school for auto. I am a senior this year. I also enjoy playing paintball!

APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN
Dedicated to the automotive field, Tyler grew up watching his father work on engines, which ignited his passion for fixing cars. He thrives on the satisfaction of learning and ensuring customers leave with a smile. His favorite vehicle is his ’99 Camaro, and he enjoys road trips to Duluth. To unwind, Tyler indulges in video games. A personal achievement he cherishes is successfully dropping the engine and transmission from his ’98 Camaro after it was totaled.
